2021 NEW OPENINGS IN BIRMINGHAM AND BEYOND

There seems to be a new opening every week in Birmingham, It’s hard to keep up with you Brum! So, I have created a list of restaurants, hotels and entertainment venues that are opening in Birmingham and Beyond in 2021. THE GRAND HOTEL

Where: Colmore Row/B3 2BS

The re-opening of the Grand Hotel was on 4th November however this was delayed due to Lockdown,The hotel will re-open when CO-VID restrictions have been lifted then you’ll be able to book a room, and cocktails or afternoon tea in the Madeleine bar.

TONIGHT JOSEPHINE

Where: Stephenson St, Birmingham B2 4BL

Due to open in December 2020 but due to CO-VID restrictions Tonight Josephine looks to open in May 2021, you can expect cocktails, Bottomless brunches and FULL HOUSE BINGO?

LUCARELLI

Where: THE MAILBOX (REPLACING RED PEPPERS)

Serving up traditional Italian Cuisine, This will be Lucarelli’s second brand as their first one is in West Brom.

Now open offering outdoor dining.

Where: Paradise Birmingham

Award-winning wine bar and restaurant will be arriving at Paradise Birmingham in May/June 2021, serving an impressive variety of wine and high-quality food.

THE ROLLING MILL

Where: JEWELLERY QUARTER

Brand new bar and restaurant set to open its doors in MID 2021 in the heart of the JQ. Indoor and outdoor space, covered courtyard, heated mezzanine rooftop, two bars and a private terrace!

Where: Digbeth

A new style of retail complex is coming to Digbeth 2021! Three floors of culture and creativity including a food court, barbers, hair salon dessert parlour, multimedia centre, retail space and more! Looking to open these spaces throughout 2021

HAIDILAO

Where: The Bullring/ST Martins Square

Replacing Jamies Italian, Haidilao is opening their third site in Birmingham in MID 2021. Serving up traditional hot pots where you pick your ingredients, you can also choose from noodle, soups and meat dishes.

NEW EATERY BY LASAN GROUP

Where: Harborne High Street

Replacing Cafe Rouge on Harborne High Street, this will be the 4th restaurant from Birmingham restaurant group Lasan offering an elegant and urban chic dining environment and is looking to open in MID 2021

ROSA’S THAI CAFE

Where: Paradise Birmingham

Specialising in authentic Thai food & cuisine, Award-Winning brand that has several sites in London as well as two sites in Leeds and Liverpool. Opening on 18th May 2021

GIGGLING SQUID

Where: Harborne

Thai food with bold flavours, exotic ingredients and dishes with personality! A opening date has been set and it looks like Giggling Squid in Harborne will be opening on 17th May 2021.

TREETOP ADVENTURE GOLF

Where: The Bullring/Birmingham

18-hole indoor mini-golf courses surrounded by rainforest, ancient ruins and waterfalls?! Accompanied by Pizza Cabana to feast on after your game, cocktails and mocktails from The Thirsty Toucan and coffee from the Rainforest Roast Cafe looking to open in SPRING 2021

D&D LONDON

Where: The Bullring/Birmingham

The new rooftop restaurant, cocktail bar and cafe at the top of Birmingham’s tallest office tower on Colmore Row is looking to launch later this year in Autumn 2021.

PERIOS

Where: Brindley Place

PERIOS is a Tex-Mex concept, based on flavours. They serve Mexican classics such as tacos, burritos, nachos, as well as American burgers, and let’s not forget about their fabulous cocktails! They have taken over the old Handmade Burger Co site by the canal in Brindley Place and hope to open early this year when CO-VID restrictions are lifted.

Where: Brindleyplace, Birmingham

Brand new fine-dining concept coming to Brindleyplace, Qavali will feature Turkish, Arabic, Persian and Indian-inspired cuisine. Still awaiting confirmation of the opening date.

SHIBUYA UNDERGROUND

Where: Birmingham

Let Shibuya Underground take you on a liquid journey around Japan, showcasing each authentic drinks flight through stories and tales from the East. Whilst discovering philosophies, culture and flavours, let the smells, tastes and sensations transport you to Japan in an instant. This sounds amazing and we can’t wait to find out more! The date is yet to be confirmed.

HALTON TURNER TAP ROOM

Where: Digbeth

Halton Turner Brewing Company is opening up a taproom in Digbeth this Summer 2021 and WE CANT WAIT! More information to come!

WINGSTOP

Where: The Bullring (In former EAT site)

Chicken wing brand Wingstop is coming to Brum! Opening up in the former EAT site at The Bullring, they are open now for delivery. Wingstop is all about FLAVOUR from Hawaiian to ATOMIC! This is one to watch out for!

BOXPARK

Where: Birmingham TBC

Boxpark has submitted plans to open up a new site in Birmingham, The date is TBC, It may not be 2021 but I added it to the guide BECAUSE THIS IS SO EXCITING. Boxpark is a massive event venue and is currently the biggest food, culture, and social hub in London. This will be a unique experience bringing the people of Brum together to EAT, DRINK, AND PLAY.

ALOFT BIRMINGHAM EASTSIDE HOTEL

Where: Woodcock St in Birmingham

Aloft Birmingham Eastside is a modern, loft-inspired hotel that is ideal for Business and leisure travellers. There is a bar/lounge, fitness centre, evening entertainment and more! Now open for bookings.

Where: Sutton Coldfield (In former Bodega site)

Otto opened up their second site in Lichfield before Christmas and now, they have announced plans to open their third site in Sutton Coldfield in the late Spring! Sutton is screaming for more great Independents, so we definitely can not wait for some delicious Italian Cuisine for us to all indulge in.

KOUZINA GREEK MEZE

Where: Selfridges – The Bullring

Street Kitchen Brothers are going to be launching their new Kouzina Greek Meze restaurant in Selfridges Birmingham soon as restrictions are lifted but will be offering the option of takeaway which is now available. They will be the first Greek restaurant to partner up with Selfridges! More updates to come.

ZUMHOF FOOD MARKT.

Where: Zumhof Biergarten-Second floor

Zumhof will be re-opening on April 12th with a SEVEN DAY LAUNCH PARTY and a brand new Food Märkt upstairs where Birmingham’s top food traders bring you the best scran in the city including Bonehead and Foodie Legend “The Fat Foodie” with new burger joint Meats Meet Bun. Food Markt is now open

Introducing Bloom that will be opening in Solihull on 17th May 2021 when Lockdown restriction’s are eased. They will be serving up delicious coffee and brunch.

RED BRICK MARKET BIRMINGHAM

Where: Floodgate Street, Digbeth

A brand new alternative retail offering. A true colourful cocktail of independent small businesses, artists and makers. Vintage, antique, new alongside old, sustainable fashion and zero waste. Red Brick Market is now open and will be open 7 days a week, expect a colourful shopping experience showcasing the best of Birmingham’s small independents, artists, and creatives.

STICKIE FINGERS

Where: Bournville

Stickie Fingers is opening up their second branch in Bournville aiming for a mid-April opening! Serving up their delicious pancakes, doughnuts, crepes and shakes. They will be offering delivery & takeaway options , and we can’t wait to check it out!

Q BOX BIRMINGHAM

Where: Harborne High Street

QBOX is a high-end takeaway restaurant offering click and collect and by day a Deli that will serve coffee, freshly baked sourdough and seasonal salads. The concept is based around bbq chicken and bbq vegetarian mains with your choice of different season salads, sides and a variety of sauces! QBOX is looking to open this May so keep an eye out for more information.

LEVIATHAN BREWING

Where: Unit 4, 17 Reddicap Trading Estate 
Sutton Coldfield 

Spawned from a love of great beer and heavy metal, Leviathan Brewing is a micro brewer of small batch craft beer using quality, natural ingredients. The Taproom in Sutton Coldfield is now open offering outdoor dining with a great selection of beer, cide, wine and bar snacks on the menu, there will also be a few street food pop ups such as Beef on the Block and Zack’s Caribbean.

GIGGLING SQUID

Where: Mere Green (Replacing Gusto)

Giggling Squid is coming to Mere Green replacing Gusto serving up delicious Thai Cuisine. Opening date is TBC so keep up to date with latest news via their website here

MYTHOS TAVERNA

Where: The Arcadian, Birmingham

Mythos Taverna brings you on a trip to Greece & the islands, serving authentic dishes from across the region in beautiful Mediterranean surroundings.

Located in the Arcadian, just outside the Hippodrome with a beautiful heated terrace on theatre square, Mythos brings a true flavour of Greece to Birmingham. Opening on 17th May.

ROBATA

Where: 92-98 Colmore Row, B3 3BD

An exciting addition to Birmingham city centre, the restaurant is the second venue under the Robata moniker, with the first launched in Central London in 2019. The restaurant will open on Colmore Row serving up a great variety such as mixed grill skewers, bao buns, raw dishes and Smokey meat and veg dishes. Opening date is TBC

NORTH FISH

Where: The Bullring, Birmingham

Polish restaurant chain North fish is coming to The Bullring, opening its first UK restaurant right here in Birmingham! The chain will offer healthy menu items such as battered squid and prawns, tuna burgers and salmon tortilla wraps. The opening date is TBC.

KILN BY MAC

Where: Mac Birmingham

MAC is opening a new café and restaurant on 24th May 2021. The old cafe has been transformed into a vibrant and modern space with a seasonal menu that offers fantastic stone baked pizzas made with their own MAC slow-fermented dough! Open for breakfast, lunch, and will serve up a reduced dinner menu in the evenings.

FOX AND CHANCE BAR

Where: Pinfold Street, Birmingham

New cocktail bar is opening up just around the corner from New Street Station, their focus is on delivering a diverse drinks menu with an atmosphere and service as friendly and welcoming as a favourite local pub, just brought to the level of a cocktail bar! Opening date is TBC but they are looking to open in June.

REVIVE WARWICK

Where: Smith Street, Warwick

Warwick newest café is Revive bringing locally sourced food, delicious coffee and some games tables for you all to enjoy creating a pretty buzzing atmosphere. Revive are looking to open at the end of May and we can’t wait!

FILLET OF SOUL

Where: Bennets Hill, Birmingham

Finally, Birmingham has a new fish and chip shop, Introducing Fillet of Soul that is hoping to open in July on Bennet’s Hill taking over Buffalo & Rye’s old site. Serving up high-quality, traditional fish and chips that I’m sure will be loved by all!

  2. This is actually really positive to see, with so much going on, I am so glad that people are still moving forward with business plans. I can’t wait to go out again, eat and drink and celebrate.
